Inclusive Digital Education: From Principles to Classroom Practice Webinars
Teachers, special education professionals and education stakeholders are invited to join the Atollo Project for a free two-part webinar exploring how inclusive digital education principles can be applied in real classrooms.
Taking place on Monday, 31 August 2026, from 15:00 to 16:15 Irish time / 16:00 to 17:15 CEST, the online event will combine an introduction to the foundations of inclusive digital education with a practical demonstration of the digital learning materials developed through the Atollo Project.

From inclusive education principles to practical action
Digital tools can help create more flexible and engaging learning environments, but access to technology alone does not guarantee meaningful participation.
The first session, Principles of Inclusive Digital Education, will be delivered by Tobias Buchner, Professor of Inclusive Education and Disability Studies at the Centre for Teacher Education and the Faculty of Philosophy and Education at University of Vienna and will explore what inclusive digital education means in practice.
The session will introduce the three core principles of Universal Design for Learning:
- The why of learning: supporting different ways for learners to engage and remain motivated.
- The what of learning: presenting information in different and accessible ways.
- The how of learning: allowing learners to demonstrate their understanding through different forms of action and expression.
Participants will also receive a practical introduction to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and the POUR principles of accessible content: perceivable, operable, understandable and robust.
Using clear classroom examples, the session will demonstrate how educators can identify and remove barriers so that learners are not only present, but actively involved and engaged in their learning.
Discover the Atollo digital learning materials
The second session, Using Digital Educational Materials to Support Learners with Difficulties, will introduce the interactive educational resources developed through the Atollo Project.
Delivered by Eva Smrekar from Profil Klett, with support from Jeff Sheridan from Matrix Internet, the session will demonstrate how teachers can select and use the Atollo IZZI materials in the classroom.
Participants will see how the materials are organised, explore their accessibility features and learn how they can be used to support individual learners, small groups and differentiated classroom activities.
The Atollo Project has developed 45 free interactive learning units in mathematics and ICT, available in six languages and designed to support learners with a wide range of special educational needs.
