Atollo Resource Library Launches: Free, Multilingual Digital Learning for Students with Special Educational Needs

The Atollo Project has officially launched its Resource Library, a comprehensive collection of free, multilingual digital learning materials designed to support students with special educational needs (SEN) across Europe.

Co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, the Atollo Project brings together partners from across Europe with a shared goal: to make digital education more inclusive, accessible and effective for every learner. The launch of the Resource Library marks a major milestone in that mission.

Atollo Resource Library Launches: Free, Multilingual Digital Learning for Students with Special Educational Needs

A library designed for real classrooms

Available now at atolloproject.eu/resource-library, the Atollo Resource Library offers interactive, curriculum-aligned materials in six languages: Bulgarian, Croatian, English, German, Icelandic and Norwegian.

Hosted on the IZZI platform, the resources are completely free to access, require no registration, and can be used on any standard device, making them immediately accessible for teachers, parents and learners alike.

The materials have been carefully designed to support a wide range of learning needs. Organised across four differentiated learning levels, they cater to students with profound and multiple learning difficulties, as well as those working close to lower primary outcomes with specific learning difficulties.

Covering both mathematical and digital competencies, the resources can be used in inclusive classrooms, special education settings, or at home with adult support.

Built with accessibility at their core

Accessibility is not an add-on. It is built into every resource.

Each activity has been developed using Universal Design for Learning principles, ensuring that learners can engage with content in ways that suit their individual needs. Features include adjustable font sizes, dyslexia-friendly text, colour and contrast customisation, audio narration, and subtitles.

This flexibility allows educators to adapt materials easily, supporting differentiated instruction without adding to their workload.

Tested, refined and proven

What sets the Atollo Resource Library apart is its strong foundation in real-world testing.

During an extensive pilot phase, the materials were used across 15 schools in Germany, Bulgaria and Croatia. In total, 430 students, more than 100 teachers, and over 200 parents were involved in testing and evaluation.

Through classroom observations, teacher feedback and focus groups, the project gathered valuable insights into how the resources performed in practice. The final library has been refined directly based on this feedback, ensuring that it is not only innovative, but also practical and effective in real learning environments.

A European effort with local impact

The Atollo Project reflects the strength of collaboration across borders, combining expertise from universities, educators and technology providers.

While the project is European in scope, its impact is deeply local, supporting teachers, students and families in their everyday learning journeys with practical, freely available tools for inclusive education.

Join us in Pula

To mark the culmination of the project, educators, researchers and policymakers are invited to attend the Atollo Final Conference, Breaking Barriers through Education.

Taking place on 14 May 2026 at the Coworking Center Pula, Croatia, the event will showcase key project results, share insights from the pilot phase, and explore the future of inclusive digital education.

Both in-person and online attendance options are available.
